Dear Harvey,

Greetings from Windora!

I am on a Birding Trip to the Channel Country in Western Queensland. This lovely bird is an Apostle bird so called because it lives and travels in a family group of ten to twelve. His plumage blends in well with the Mulga trees in the area.

The long drought has brought them in close to townships and tourist sites looking for hand-outs (and they do feed from your hand). Sadly they’ re now seen as a pest. Safety in numbers is their motto!

Best wishes
