This old barn stands on the outskirts of the mountain town of Hayesville, the seat of Clay County, North Carolina. The Statue of Liberty and an old tractor grace the front of this historical building. Freedom and heritage are the themes captured in the photo. Our little mountain town attempts to preserve Appalachian culture and the freedom many soldiers have fought for our nation and county. Strong-spirited mountain men and women know hard work and appreciate the liberty we enjoy today in America. Clay County may be the smallest county in North Carolina, but we have a heart of gold and demonstrate that by helping our neighbors who have needs.
